Paramount Students get Fresh Vision for their Future at LAs Black College Expo

The Black College Expo is an event that highlights over 50 of the 104 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), along with other higher learning institutions and educational services. It was developed 18 years ago to serve as a link between minorities and college admissions. Although the purpose is to educate ALL students about HBCUs and the college admission process, visitors were able to meet with public colleges, private colleges, ivy leagues, baby ivies, and even military colleges that were also on site [from the Black College Expo website].

Paramount High School students brought their transcripts and resumes to show the college recruiters in order to get first-hand information and advice about the college admissions process and selecting a college to attend. The PHS students learned a lot of information as well as enjoyed the comradery of the event.

BSU Co-Advisors, Christine Barboza and Akisha Brooks, watched while students became excited by the myriad of educational opportunities available to them. Our Paramount students were impressed and left the Black College Expo with a fresh vision of what success for them can look like.
