On behalf of the entire Keppel staff, I welcome you to Mark Keppel Elementary School. As the new principal, I look forward to serving the students, parents and families that make up this wonderful community. I have served the Paramount community for over 28 years as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, curriculum specialist, and principal. I will work hard to continue the tradition of teamwork and success established at Keppel by building strong relationships with parents, students, staff, and community partners.
At Keppel, our dedicated and caring staff will ensure that your child receives the very best education. As a Safe and Civil School, we believe that all students should be able to learn and play in a safe and civil environment. To accomplish this, we continually teach our students about positive behaviors and attitudes through clear expectations and procedures. Our goal is to become the “Gold Standard” in service and education.
As principal, my doors are always open. Please feel free to stop in or make an appointment to discuss any concerns, suggestions, or ideas that will help our children succeed. I look forward to a wonderful school year filled with learning for all.
If you are interested in supporting our school, we invite you to join the Keppel PTA. We believe that the success of our students is greatly enhanced through a strong partnership with the community. Every 3rd through 5th grade student will be provided his or her own Chromebook as an educational tool. These devices are part of the learning experiences in classrooms every day. Students research, collaborate, write and create as part of our goal to develop 21st Century learners who are College and Career ready.
At Keppel Elementary, we strive to provide a variety of educational experiences to support learning. Music with Ms. Song as well as the Harmony Project give Pumas something to sing about! Academic support with Mrs. Pearce in Learning Lab gets our Pumas excited about learning to read. Math and Reading Academy offer 3-5th grade students small group experiences to dig more deeply into mathematical concepts and to hone their writing skills. Art Masters teach our K-2 students to appreciate famous Artists and to create their own masterful works. Computer skills are practiced and applied in our Computer Lab and every 3rd and 4th grade student has a Chromebook to support digital literacy.
We are proud to announce that we have an agreement with Compton College that will provide our graduates with several financial and academic benefits if they continue their education after high school there. Click the headline to learn more.
